Lebanon wake-up!

Since August 10, I am following closely the news concerning a possible earthquake accompanied by a huge tsunami that might hit any day now Lebanon coastline, as per a study published in the Geology journal - a publication of GSA (you must subscribe to get access to the full article).

It seems that so far, the Lebanese government and its concerned institutions are not taking seriously this threat. Security measures and evacuation strategies should be implemented as soon as possible.

On Dec.29, 2004, the indian ocean tsunami surprised everybody, especially the most unaware poor communities of Indonesia (mostly in Aceh), Sri Lanka, and India (mostly in Tamil Nadu). The catastrophe was one of the deadliest disasters in modern history.

As John Burroughs says, "Nature teaches more than she preaches."
